The Agreement on Youth Mobility between France and Canada

An agreement on youth exchanges between France and Canada was signed in 2003.

The Agreement offers Canadian and French citizens aged 18-35 the opportunity to acquire university training or a work experience and to improve their knowledge of the other country's language, culture and society.

The following persons may benefit from the Agreement:

  • young Canadian citizens wishing to obtain initial or further training under an employment contract (visa 2A);
  • young Canadian citizens wishing to complete part of their university program in an institution in France in the context of an inter-university agreement (visa 2B);
  • young Canadian citizens wishing to work in a business in France as part of their studies or training (visa 2C);
  • young Canadian citizens wishing to stay in France for touristic and cultural discovery purposes while being authorized to work to supplement their financial resources (visa 2E).

Applicants should:

  • be between the ages of 18 and 35 on the date the application is made;
  • be Canadian citizens and residing in Canada at the time the application is submitted;
  • be in possession of a Canadian passport valid for at least 3 months after the completion of the visit;
  • have proof of insurance and of sufficient funds for the duration of the stay.

Notes:

  • Please refer to the links section below for job offers, training courses, insurance and lodgings.
  • There are no fees for the beneficiaries of this Agreement.
  • Participants may be allowed to benefit from this Agreement twice under two different categories. Both stays must be discontinuous. Participants must therefore return to Canada and re-apply for a new visa under the Agreement.
  • The duration of each stay shall not exceed one year except for beneficiaries of category 2A for whom the duration may be up to 18 months.
