How to apply for your visa if you have been accepted into a French higher education program?
Canada has joined the Études en France (EEF) platform. This is a centralised online service for all registration procedures in higher education in France for foreign students.
The Études en France platform in Canada
The Études en France platform is entirely paperless, and enables you to manage all the steps involved in registering with a higher education institution, right through to applying for a visa. Registration is mandatory before applying for a visa. Simply create a personal electronic file and follow the instructions.
You'll be able to submit your applications, communicate with the Campus France office in your province, and contact the institutions you wish to enroll in.
A fee of CAD 150 is charged for this service. Please note, however, that visa fees for countries or territories with EEF procedures are reduced. Canadian students on exchange programs in France (bilateral agreement between a French and a Canadian institution) are exempt from visa fees (but not from administrative fees for the Etudes en France procedure), under the France-Canada Agreement on Youth Mobility.
Who is eligible?
All non-European Union students residing in Canada and wishing to study in France for a period of more than 3 months, for which a long-stay visa is required, who :
- has obtained admission to a French institution via the Etudes en France procedure
- has obtained admission to a French institution that is not connected to the Etudes en France platform
- is on an exchange program under an agreement between his or her home university and an institution in France
To do so, the student must go to the Etudes en France platform, create an account and select the "I have been accepted" category (not "I am an applicant") and complete the required information, send the necessary supporting documents, submit his or her application and pay the application fee of 150 CAD.
Applicants can apply for a visa once they have completed the electronic file on Études en France (EEF). Once the file has been validated on EEF, the applicant can start the visa application process on the France Visas website, and book an appointment at one of the 4 VFS centers in Canada.
In addition, students accepted to study in France (excluding exchange students) must take part in an online interview with a Campus France agent to present their study project, so that their application can be validated. The appointment is made on the Etudes en France platform, and there is no need to come in person to the Espace Campus France.
